One Medicine Symposium

The One Medicine Symposium is hosted by the NC Department of Agriculture and NC Department of Health and Human Services in cooperation with NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and USDA APHIS Veterinary Services. This national conference provides professionals from a variety of backgrounds with current information and take-home tools to improve awareness and understanding of the topics from a One Medicine perspective, promote collaboration across professional disciplines, and enhance preparedness for natural or man-made disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and other challenges affecting human and animal health.

Participants will gain valuable knowledge from real-world event and case discussions on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery as well as emerging zoonotic diseases and outbreaks. This year’s program will feature both traditional lectures and interactive audience discussion guided by experienced facilitators to encourage participants to consider how they might approach these challenges in their own professions and communities.
